On October 8 2024, Dharma Jyothi Social Centre held an awareness program on Cybercrime at the Dakshina Kannada Rural Development Society (DKRDS) at Belthangady. The Co-ordinator of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, Sr Joel Lasrado, shared insights through real-life incidents, causes and impact. DKRDS Director FrBinoy presided over the Programme. 129 individuals benefited from the event.
On October 10 2024, Dharma Jyothi Social Centre cum Spoorthi Charitable Trust organized an awareness talk on “ Free Legal Aid” in the premises of St. Mary’s School, Uppinangady. Sr RencyD’Silva, advocate, spoke on the provision under Article 39 A of the Indian Constitution which guarantees equal justice and free legal aid. Sr. Joel Lasrado the Co-ordinator of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre and trustee of Spoorthi Charitable Trust was present for the program. 78 individuals benefitted from this awareness Program.
Dharma Jyothi Social Centre organized “Grandparents' Day” on 20th October 2024. The resource person, Mrs. Liza Kiran Rodrigues, Natural Nutrition Therapist gave a session to the elderly as she emphasized on the importance of spiritual, physical and mental health. She encouraged the grand parents to live with love and togetherness in their families. Rev. Sr Joel Lasarado SRA, the coordinator of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, delivered the keynote address. Rev. Sr Rency SRA conducted games for the attendees. 62 grandparents participated in the programme.
Two staff members and 30 M.S.W. students from Dayananda Pai – Sathish Pai Government First Grade College, Carstreet, Mangalore, made an orientation visit to the Dharma Jyothi Social Centre in Vamanjoor. Rev. Sr Joel Lasrado, the Director of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, explained the ongoing programs at the center, while Social Worker Mrs. Renita provided information on self-help groups and effective communication with village communities. The students responded enthusiastically and gained valuable knowledge.
