International Women’s Day celebration

On March 8, 2026 the International Women’s Day celebration was organized under the joint auspices of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, Vamanjoor, and the Regional Science Centre, Pilikula. The program was presided over by Dr. Ashok K. R., Director of the Regional Science Centre, Pilikula. In his address, he explained the importance and role of women in daily life. The program was inaugurated by Mrs. Jaibunnisa, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru. She spoke about women’s justice, rights, and legal protections. The chief guest of the program, the President of Dharama Jyothi Social Centre, Vamanjoor, Rev. Sr. Leena V. J., spoke about women’s empowerment and strength. Mr. N. G. Mohan, Member of the District Level Authority Committee, conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all the women present. Among the other guests, The resource person for the program, Mrs. Manasa Hegde, Panel Advocate of the District Legal Services Authority, Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru, gave a detailed talk about the prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment of women at the workplace. The Director of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, Sr. Veera Monis, welcomed all the dignitaries with her introductory remarks. Mrs. Asha, President of Women Federation, proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Jagannath compered the program. A total of 158 members of self-help groups participated in the program.

Distribution program for free spectacles

On 13 March 2026, a distribution program for free spectacles was organized at the Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, Vamanjoor. The initiative aimed to support individuals with visual difficulties by providing them with necessary eyewear. Earlier, in February 2026, a free eye camp was conducted, during which eye check-ups were carried out for numerous beneficiaries. Following the examinations, spectacles were provided to 122 needy individuals. The distribution was led by the Director, Sr. Veera Monis, as part of the centre’s ongoing commitment to community welfare and service.

Formation of a New Self -Help Group

On 23.03.2026, under the leadership of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, a new self-help group was formed at Jyothinagar, Vamanjoor. During the program, the Social worker explained the rules and regulations of the group in detail and highlighted its importance. All the group members participated and collectively suggested the name of the group as "Amma" Self Help Group.
