Activities for the month of March 2024

On March 3, 2024, Dharma Jyothi organized a health promotion program for village people at GramaAbivriddiSangha, Edurupadavu. Mrs. Renita served as the resource person for the event, providing valuable information about mental depression and its solutions. 40 members benefited from this program, gaining insights into managing and overcoming mental health challenges. This initiative by Dharma Jyothi not only aimed at raising awareness but also actively contributed to the well-being of the community, empowering individuals with knowledge and resources to lead healthier lives.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, in collaboration with the Women's Federation, organized a one-day picnic for self-help group members on 8th March 2024. 156 members journeyed on three buses. The various destinations included: Moodbidri Thousand Pillar Basadi, Kodyadka Temple, Gomateshwara, Sanoor Masjid, Athur Church, and Padubidri Beach. The picnic was thoroughly enjoyed by all participants. Additionally, the team visited M/S New Adilaxmi Industries Paladka, (manufacture of papads). The owner of the industry, Mrs. Radhika organized Women's Day program. Mr. Suchalith, the president of Nandini Milk Production Union Kulshekar was the chief guest, encouraged the women for self-employment in his valuable words. Sr. Joel motivated the members with the theme of Women's Day: “inspire inclusion Invest in women accelerate progress” Mrs. Savitha, a community health worker, and Mrs. Asha, the president of the Women's Federation, were present. Mrs. Renita compered the program. All 156 members expressed gratitude for this program. Refreshments were served to all.

The academic year closing ceremony of Dharma Jyothi Tuition Centre was held at Edurupadavon 9th march 2024. Mrs. Renita, a dedicated social worker, served as the incharge of the tuition centre. She played a pivotal role in organizing the academic year closing ceremony at Edurupadavu. With her guidance and support, 38 students participated in the program, sharing their experiences and achievements from the past year. Mrs. Renita's commitment to education and community development has been instrumental in the success of the tuition centre, empowering students with knowledge and skills for a brighter future.

On March 22, 2024, 17 students from Dharma Jyothi Tailoring School, accompanied by Mrs. Renita, a social worker and Mrs. Kavitha, their tailoring teacher visited a garment factory at Ganjimat. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into industrial tailoring processes and to enhance their understanding of real-world manufacturing operations. Students gained a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the manufacturing sector. The visit was instrumental in broadening their perspectives and nurturing their aspirations towards a career in tailoring and related industries.

On March 23, 2024, Dharma Jyothi Social Centre organized a program focused on creating awareness about income generation. The highlight of the event was a talk by resource person Sr. Joel Lasrado, who shared valuable insights on maintaining financial records specifically tailored for women. A total of 28 members actively participated in the program.The program was a resounding success. Through practical tips and interactive discussions, participants gained valuable knowledge and skills to take control of their finances and pursue sustainable incomegenerating opportunities.

On March 27, 2024 Dharma Jyothi Social Centre in collaboration with Arise Foundation organized an awareness program on human trafficking at DharmaJyothi Social Centre. The program aimed to educate the Staff, Tailoring students and for Field Exposure MSW students about the critical issue of human trafficking in children and adults. Sr. Joel, the Coordinator of the Centre and Ms. Renita Lewis delivered a comprehensive talk . The event aimed to contribute towards the prevention and combatting of human trafficking in society. 28 members benefited from this programme.
