Dharma Jyothi Social Centre conducted an awareness program on child abuse for Edurupadavu village people at Grama abhivriddi Sanga Edurupadavu on July 6, 2023. The coordinator of Inchara foundation Mrs. Sumana was the resource person. She gave information on how to prevent sexual abuse from strangers and what action should be taken in case of child abuse. 22 women and children participated in this programme.
Tuition classes for children for the academic year 2023 – 24 was begun in June at Edurupadav and Shalepadav of Moodushedde Panchayath.
Sr. Joel Lasrado SRA, Co-ordinator of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre visited the tuition centres of Moodushedde and Shalelpadav on 19/07/2023. She was satisfied and happy that tuition classes are running smoothly under the guidance of the teachers. She also spoke about the need of the education. Students entertained by action songs. 65 children are the beneficiaries of this programme.
On 20th July 2023 Dharma Jyothi Social Centre and Spoorthi Charitable Trust organized aprogramme at Subramanya Bajana Mandir, Neermarga for 150 differently abled people of Neermarga Panchayath area.
Resource Person Rev. Sr. Agnes Frank through presentation made them aware of self acceptance, self worth and self confidence. She also advised them about how to lead an independent life.
Sr. Joel Lasrado, the Co-ordinator of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre distributed the kit consisting of rice, blanket and soaps to each and encouraged them. After the programme refreshments were served to all.
On 28/07/2023 Dharma Jyothi Charitable Society through the support of Arise Foundation, 25 Self Help Group women availed Revolving Fund of Rs.1,25,000 to begin with various self employment projects.
At first Sr. Joel Lasrado the Co-ordinator of Dharma Jyothi Social Centre gave awareness on anti human trafficking and thereafter distributed the cheque of Rs.5,000/- each and wished them well. All the women were happy to begin the self employment and thus become self reliant.
Vamanjoor: Dharma Jyothi Social Centre, Vamanjoor organized a day’s Workshop on Writing Skills for Social Workers on 29 July 2023 in their premises. Mr.Joselyn T. Lobo (Retd) Associate Professor facilitated the workshop. Sr. Joel Lasrado SRA, Co-ordinator and 18 staff of the Centre actively participated in the workshop.
The programme covered basics of written communication, letter writing, report writing, cultivating reading habits and related areas.
